Operational
Plan
An operational plan will be included in the information pack provided to
each pilot and we urge every pilot and crew to familiarise themselves
accordingly – Note that a small number of changes have been made to the
previous year’s procedures.
The
operational plan is also available from the website as is the airfield layout
map.
Catering
Breakfast,
lunch and dinners will be available on the airfield. We will use a pre-booking /
ticketing system – Before 10h00 for lunch, dinner and the next day’s
breakfast.
Please
consult the notice board for information.
Pilots meeting
All
pilots must attend the pilots meeting on 27 December 2006 at 18h30. Cocktail
function afterwards.

Date
and Venue
The competition will
once again be held at
New
Tempe
Airport
in
Bloemfontein
, hosted by the Bloemfontein Gliding Club.
The competition will run from 28 December 2006 to 6 January 2007. This
will give us 10 possible competition days. Practice day will be 27 December 2006
and informal practice will be possible before Christmas and on the 26th.
Entry
Forms and Fees
Entry forms will be
emailed to everyone on Anne Kienhofer’s list and also posted on the SSSA
website. For those who require a fax entry please call
Riaan Bezuidenhout
at 083 300 7283.
The entry fee for this year will be R1 360.00 per glider. See entry
from for details and other currency amounts.
Please note our banking details, same
as last year and all cheques made out to Dust Devil.
Please note that all entry fees must be paid before the first competition
day.
Aerotow
The cost of aerotows seems like R270.00 each depending on the fuel price;
we will keep you updated if anything changes.
Turn points, airspace
and handicaps

Weighing
of aircraft
All aircraft competing in the standard / 15m class and open
class must be weighed on 27 December 2005 to establish the tow out
configuration weight. Please ensure that you make time to have this done.
Documentation
All aircraft must have a valid authority to fly or certificate
of airworthiness whatever is applicable in their country of registration.
Pilots must have their credit card SSSA licences or foreign pilots
must have a temporary glider pilots licence (available from
Dick Bradley
).
All pilots must complete an indemnity form.
All these documents must be presented to the weighing official on 27
December 2006 (this applies to the club class as well even though they need not
be weighed ).
No launch will be provided to pilots on 28 December 2006 if any of these
documents are outstanding.
PLEASE HELP US TO GET THESE FORMALITIES OUT OF THE WAY QUICKLY AND
EFICIENTLY.
Accommodation
Here are some leads for accommodation:

and tell him you are coming to the Gliding Nationals. They have some rooms with
aircon and various arrangements that can work out quite economically if you
share. Breakfast available.
Camping
(with ablution and hot showers) is available on the airfield @ R10-00 per person
per night.
