The French are used to Siestas - or is it the Italians - anyway, herewith a picture of Roland Stuck, our French referee, taking his siesta at Bloemfontein

With the task being two triangles coming over Bloem half way through, the gliders have passed overhead awhile ago and are now into their 2nd triangle, so we expect to see them back before too long.

The wind however has picked up, so perhaps the 2nd leg of the flight will not be as easy as the 1st leg.

More later, Carol

Pilots launching was finished by about 2 p.m. and Bruno Pieraerts and Phil Jeffery were not on the grid so they are not doing the task. I see Mannie landed back - not sure if he is taking a re-light.

Rich Hood is arriving this afternoon only so guess he will just get a local flight this a'noon.

Briefing held just after 11 a.m. Two pilots didn't attend - not arrived as yet!

Most of the pilots have now gone through registration and gliders are going to the launch point. First launch scheduled for 1 p.m., so probably 12 gliders will be launched.

Task set as 336.6 km. polygon with 5 points GP Start line - R3 - R1 - GP start line - R2 - Dealesville - Finish line

We have young scholars here from the Siyandisa programme who are really interested in aviation and they will be getting involved with the gliding as well.

At the 11 a.m. briefing, I believe Dick wants to allocate each of them to one of the pilots so that they will get to see the glider and learn even more about our sport.
