| The theme today was winglets!! Took a variety of
different shaped winglets today with rudders in background so you can see
some of the designs. Also how some relax - the Austrians by the pool
before going to the runway, Sven in the cockpit and Rich Hood also feet
sticking out of cockpit. Also a shot of the sky today.
Note the clouds have not dissipated and there is still at least 4 octa cloud. We think it will be good. the gate opened at 13.50 and looking at the tracking units now, most of the gliders are abeam Dealesville en route to R1. |

| We had a great party last evening hosted by
the SA Weather Service. Tony Rousseau of the SAWS gave a short talk about
the developments and information that SAWS is now able to produce to
improve their service to all their users. They have recently bought a new
BIG computer based on the UK one and can produce far more with greater
detail, of particular interest would be the lightning forecasting, flood
warnings and so forth. In SA flood warnings are especially important as
many people live in low-lying areas.
Attached are some photos of last evening's celebrations - the pilots were asked to wear their flying suits which had been specifically made for each of them - however, not all the measurements had been taken accurately, so that some of the pilots were not prepared to wear them as they were far too tight! Note Biggles aka Phil Jeffery! Unfortunately Laurens Goudriaan was absent from the line-up as he had flown back to Kimberly.

The Teams |
| Have included various sky shots - take the
order as the densest cloud first and then slowly you see the bank moving
further away, plus one or two other shots.
Also the pilots hanging around. Then when the task sheets were handed out, Oscar was given a special task sheet as he had had a lot to say about where the task should not be set!!! |

| OK the gliders all started at 13.35 and the
start was really fantastic and the sky looks good.
Herewith pics of all the pilots for this the last day, including one of a braai on the a/f! as well as Dick at briefing in one of the flying suits and the last launched glider of the day and the Qu. Gr. Prix |
