We have received news that Anders Andersen of Denmark has outlanded near Dealesville approx. 62 km. away. Bruno Pieraerts has also landed back at New Tempe not having completed the task.
The other gliders are now only about 30 km. out, so we will be having finishers before too long
<<------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Just to let you know that all the gliders have now passed over Tempe airfield to move onto the second part of the task.

The weather again is expected to be dry with only scattered cu to the NE of the country. The wind strength has definitely dropped but has also changed direction, so we have expected direction N/NE with 10 - 12 knots. Max temps they expect to be 28 - 29 deg. There maybe a swing in direction somewhere between 10 000 - 14 000 ft. to N/NW. Again they expect the thermal conditions to be better to the north than to the south of Bloemfontein.
They are still expecting tropical moisture from the north from Thursday, but today and tomorrow should be good.
So task for today - 348.3 km. essentially 2 triangles, with the pilots flying overhead the airfield in the middle of the task.
GP start line - R1 - R4 - GP Start line - Crossroads - Andersfield - Peilkop - GP Finish line
Bonus points today will be the 3rd turnpoint over the airfield.
Because of considerable congestion prior to the start of the task yesterday, it has been agreed that the pilots will only fly l.h. turns after release until the start gate is opened.

Yesterday to add to the excitement for those of us on the ground, apart from watching the tracking of those gliders equipped with the units, we had some bets going on what time the first glider would be back. So Douglas Bradley had the closest time to Mannie McLauchlan's finish and won the money yesterday - he very generously converted the money into beers!
The temperatures fell again last evening and felt quite cool and this morning it is still not that warm. The wind started SE'ly, but they are expecting it to swing to N/NE'ly in due course. We are expecting it to be mainly blue conditions with max temp of about 32 deg. They are also predicting 12 000 cloud base. As a point of interest, yesterday they said it would be cloudless, but there were some small clouds around.
