Congratulations to Mannie McLauchlan on his win again yesterday. Mark Holliday won the bonus point yesterday.
The morning blue skies were soon replaced with some cloud which was caused by moisture to the east. However these clouds are expected to dissipate and we are told it should be dry and clear in the afternoon. Further to the N/NE they are expecting more cumulus development. Cloud base is about
11 000 ft. and temperatures are supposed to be about 32 deg and higher towards Kimberley towards the west. Winds should be NWesterly lighter in strength to the north and stronger to the south of us. They are expecting more cu and cb tomorrow with a lot more overdevelopment come Friday and Saturday.
Two tasks have been set both of which will again bring the contestants over the airfield, which is exciting for those of us on the ground. Bonus point will again be the first pilot over New Tempe midway through the task.
For those wondering about the scores for yesterday - they are still preliminary and have not been finalised.
So:-
TaskA
384.2 km. polygon with 6 points
GP start line - R1 - Bultfontein - Dealesville - New Tempe - R4 - Peilkop - GP finish line
Task B
299.8 km. polygon with 5 points
GP start line - R1 - R3 - New Tempe - R4 - Peilkop - GP finish line

Last evening's lamb poitjie was delicious. For the non-S.Africans who are
wondering what a poitjie is, it is a large cast-iron pot which is put on
coals and then the food is slowly cooked in the pot over a long period of
time - lamb, potatoes, spices and herbs, vegetables of all sorts. The meat
falls off the bone and is very tender.
On the ground those of us that want to participate, are have side bets as
to what the winner's finishing time back at the airfield will be.
Yesterday's winner was Walter Walle. The previous day's winner was
Douglas Bradley.
This morning it is again blue skies and the wind is blowing northerly. The
forecast says the wind is light this morning and getting moderate this
afternoon, but by my estimation it is already quite strong, so rather
wonder whether it will get even stronger this afternoon or will abate. But
perhaps it will die down during the next few hours.
Think they are planning to set an alternate task this morning which will be
considerably shorter than the A task.
