8. DIRECTIONS TO MAFIKENG: To display the map click here >>> Map <<<. Then use your browser to print.
A map is attached (attachment no. 3) showing the routes to Mafikeng from Johannesburg International Airport – a distance of approx. 300 km. (Also downloadable, approx. 267 Kb) A route via Lichtenburg has been highlighted as the one with probably the least traffic, least heavy transport, better road, etc.

If you do not want to download the map – on arrival at Johannesburg Airport, take the R.24 towards Johannesburg. At Bedfordview you can take the circular motorway route around Johannesburg in a northerly or southerly direction – to get to the west side of the city.

Take the 14th Avenue M.8 off-ramp.

Then follow the R.47/M.47 to the N.W. Stay on this road, which later becomes the N.14 towards Ventersdorp.

Follow this road until you reach Tarlton and then turn right towards Magaliesburg & Rustenburg on the R.24.

At Magaliesburg take the R.509 towards Derby and Koster.

At Koster take the R.52 towards Lichtenburg.

At Lichtenburg take the R.503 to Mafikeng.

N.B. Take care of children and animals on this road.
